AAFCPAs to Lead Three Educational Sessions at HFMA Conference Sharing Our Expertise with CHCs

AAFCPAs has been asked to share the firm’s expertise by presenting educational workshops on three important topics at the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s (HFMA) Inaugural Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Conference on May 3rd, 2018 in Manchester, New Hampshire.
AAFCPAs is an ideal fit to contribute our knowledge base at this must-attend conference for finance professionals serving Community Health Centers (CHC) throughout New England. This Conference includes three tracks: Finance, Billing and Front-End with topics specific to each track. Five AAFCPAs professionals are happy to share their expertise on the following topics:

Effective Modeling for Accounts Receivable Allowances and Testing Estimates

Matthew Hutt, CPA, CGMA and Christopher Gendron will provide insights on developing efficient processes to record third party allowances, with a focus on reducing the time and effort needed to monitor allowances on patient accounts receivable.  Additionally, attendees will leave this session better equipped to perform proper valuations of 3rd party receivables throughout the year.

Accounting for Deferred Revenue & Temporarily Restricted Funds (and Knowing When to Use Each)

Charles Webb, CPA, CHFP and Courtney McFarland, CPA, MSA will provide attendees with guidance and illustrative examples to better distinguish between exchange transactions and contributions, and when to use temporarily restricted net assets vs deferred revenue. We will share best practices for tracking exchange transaction revenue and restricted grants, as well as processes for reporting restricted grant releases.

Effective Use of Dashboards and Key Performance Indicators: Let the Data Tell the Story

Healthcare executives use financial metrics to support planning and decision making, yet many struggle with the data equation: Is the data accessible, meaningful, and available on demand? Courtney is an audit manager in the firm’s Healthcare Practice with over 10 years of assurance experience and a comprehensive understanding of the nuances of the healthcare industry. Matthew Hutt CPA
Matt leads AAFCPAs’ Healthcare Division, providing assurance, tax and advisory solutions for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), behavioral health providers, home care agencies and hospices, nursing homes, and senior care living centers. Matt advises healthcare providers on consolidation and coordination of care, including the integration of behavioral health into the primary care delivery system. He also provides consulting solutions for providers transitioning to new value-based reimbursement models, and data driven patient care, including: developing business process and controls for collecting and advantaging data to provide analysis on: provider activity, delivery of care, and analysis of efficiency & cost effectiveness. Matt is also highly-sought after for his knowledge on issues related to affordable housing developers with requirements related to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, MassHousing, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Historical Tax Credits and New Markets Tax Credits. 
Robyn Leet
Robyn is a solution-oriented, business process improvement architect & strategist with broad expertise in identifying operations or employee skills that may be improved to ensure smoother procedures, more efficient workflow and improved operational performance.
